CCIC 2018 – Fundraising Event for Cancer Treatment & Creating Awareness
Cancer Crusaders Invitation cup (CCIC) is an annual cancer fundraising event organized by Apollo Cancer Institutes and CURE Foundation. The event has gained immense popularity among golfers all over the world who look forward to participating in this fun filled event for a noble cause. CURE Foundation is a spirited initiative to create consciousness on cancer prevention, early detection, cure & rehabilitation especially for the needful.
CURE Foundation aims to uplift the weaker sections of the society and work on eradicating cancer. So far, it has provided quality cancer treatment to more than a thousand needy patients and conducted numerous rehabilitation, research, education and fundraising programs. It actively works on empowering women and treating children suffering from cancer. It regularly conducts various programs like cancer fundraising event, awareness campaigns and educational movements as it believes educating the masses is the first step in creating prevention.
Apart from treatment and cure, the organization is proactive in its efforts to support cancer research as much as possible in order to come up with the most advanced techniques to reduce the painful experience for cancer patients. During cancer treatment, a patient undergoes immense physical, mental and emotional pain which is very difficult to recover from. CURE Foundation supports cancer survivors with its extensive rehabilitation programs that help people get back on their feet, strong, confident and happy.
CCIC is the biggest cancer fundraising event in India and one of the biggest globally. After four successful seasons, Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup is back with the world-class golf tournament. Apart from golf enthusiasts, this event has also brought participation from celebrity figures, outstanding sports persons and opinion leaders. Dr.Vijay Anand Reddy, Director of Apollo Cancer Hospital and Founder of CURE Foundation said, “Through this event, we intend to raise money and spread cancer awareness in the society. Our objective is to create a consistent, annual, respectable charity golf tournament that will be well known in the golfer community.”
The event has seen a consistent growth in the number of participants each year. The first edition of CCIC in 2010 saw 150 participants, which increased to 162 in 2012 which further rose to 210 in the year 2016. This year the event is expected to reach even greater milestones as it means a lot more than just a charity event. It has helped in creating a greater awareness and more people are coming forward to extend their support to this virtuous cause.
CCIC is held in the Hyderabad Golf Club every year. Apart from the tournament, every year there is a ‘Celebrity Playoff’ for celebrities that support the cause. Last year’s highlight was an all-women ‘Celebrity Playoff’ where some of the guests were Fashion designer and former Mrs. India Shilpa Reddy , MD of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Christina Z. Chongthu, Executive Director of Apollo Hospitals Ms. Sangita Reddy, and Actress Lakshmi Manchu, Rakul Preet Singh, and Madhu Shalini.
